Blue and Red, but not Patriotic

I mentioned before that I have a new job.  New job = new clothes.  No, shh, don’t argue – that’s just the way it is.  So the first installment in the professional wardrobe: The Blue Dress.  As S would say, “hey lucille ball! whats shakin?”

Anyway, this was the huge original lump of a thrift store dress:

And after an entire day (yes) of altering and realizing how much I hate set-in sleeves:

I basically deconstructed and reconstructed the dress.  New sleeves, tailored bodice, flared skirts, and, yes, pockets.

By the way, inspiration was from the DI Denizen, who has sadly stopped blogging, but whose blog deserves a read nonetheless.
