Fabric Heaven

I was recently surprised with a birthday trip to Manhattan to spend an afternoon in the overwhelmingly incredible Mood Fabrics, famous for its interaction with the tv show Project Runway (can you believe its on lifetime now?).  I know on the small screen, Mood seems to be a small but packed heaven of upscale fabrics, never attainable by the normal seamstress.  This, my friends, is a lie.

Mood is simply and utterly the most amazing store I’ve ever entered.  2 stories, floor to ceiling (I mean this literally) bolts of beautiful fabrics.  I was even more pleased by the lack of snobbery I thought would saturate the store.  There were people from all levels of sewingtude, and I was rather glad to find them a tad unorganized and scattered, as I interpreted this to be a store for the everyday person and not just elite bryant park designers.

To cut to the chase, I spent my entire time picking my jaw off the floor and running from corner to corner of the store, and left cradling these lovelies:

From left to right: Olive Leather, Sheer Organza Squares, Floral Satin, Cotton, striped lightweight jersey, green waffle-knit, jersey, and almost-argyle jersey
